If you were a nice/pretty girl, you wudn't go thru this.. guys wud buzz around you to 'help' you.
But since you are not... you have to jump "out of the box". Try to find out the mood of their discussions and then put in your quick-yet-clever remarks. Once you get noticed, its easy :) But its hard to get that break. It can take long time also.
Regarding your trash, keep throwing them in all the other people's dustbin. They will get irritated and will ask you why. Answer is simple! :D
The new guy is the new guy unil another new guy comes along, or until the people you work with learn some "dirt" on you ... as for a new dustbin, can you ask for one? :_) Good luck!!!
