I need ( to find ) a job.

A few days back I had this glorious chance of waking up early in the morning to enjoy the lovely sunrise. It was 6.30 am and I had no problem waking up since it was such a happy moment in my life and as I opened the sliding door to my balcony the landscape was covered with thin mesmerizing fog as far as the eyes can see. This is indeed a great God send opportunity to enjoy such lovely scenes and it did make me happy...

Ok who am I kidding, I was forced to wake up! Godamit! I hate waking up in the morning, it's been like two whole years since I last woke up in the morning for my 8 am classes. My 'irreplaceable' housemate came back from the hometown and I had to ride 10 miles in the cold morning to pick him up.

As I was riding my bike on the winding road towards the bus stop, I noticed a whole bunch of people, all happy faces, on the same road going to someplace I guess important to them. Then I realized that all of them have a job, and they need to get up to survive in this big world. Waking up in the morning is such a hard task for me, I've been averaging 10 am to 11 am for the past year. Its so hard that for the past 1 month I've been sleeping at 7 am in the morning and waking up at 2 or 3 pm. I just hope its not a disease. I guess waking up early does have its advantages but I simply cant do it.

That one day, was quite a revelation to me. I did feel what all Daywalkers feel waking up early and leaving to work. The sunshine, the cool morning weather, birds chirping (if you live in the outskirts of the town), the whole breakfast thing and of course feeling fresh for the rest of the day. After picking him up, we went to Sri Paandi's (an Indian restaurant) and I had a nice idli-sambhar breakfast with Bru coffee. Indeed, after that, my mood changed and I felt warm and all nice inside and actually felt better the whole day. I tried and failed to repeat the same feat the next day. I figured the only way for me to wake up in the morning again, ever, is to get a job.

Tell me folks, what are the nice things you experience when you wake up early?

I can tell you all the cool stuff of sleeping late and waking up way way late in the afternoon. While most people out there go to bed at 11 pm or 12, my day just starts then. I make a huge mug of coffee or tea and sit in front of the TV and laze around until about 2 am channel surfing. There is definitely nothing nice on at that time, except maybe on MTV. You get to see all those num-nuts in the States, go room raiding, have their stupid over hyped sweet 16, and then there's this pimp da bloody car thing and...yada yada yada... So comes 2 am, refill the mug, get a good book, any book and read a chapter, then do the same with 5 other books. I tried to read only one book at a time, but I have this big 'Oh the cover looks so good, the book must be good' syndrome so I borrow a lot of them. Hence I have to try em all... Then comes 4 am, turn on the PC, write some poetry, type some blog posts to be posted the next day, while listening to music and then do some Photoshopping (my latest interest (everything rhymes) ). After that when it's almost 6 am (by this time, you can hear all those people waking up to go to school, work, etc. When you live in an apartment, you seldom miss anything, you hear, see and smell everything! I'm starting to miss home) you take out your DVD's and watch your favorite Sci-Fi movie for the 1000th time. Then comes 8 or 9 am when you finally hit the sack. It's nice I tell you, everyone's welcome to try the routine.

Now, I don't know what else to write, to summarize the whole thing, its a good experience waking up early in the morning, I would love to do it everyday, but I cant. I need to change some routines, but I'm afraid I wont be able to do the things I like. Where is the solution?

At least you can see the positive in it. I personally am a night person, but I love early mornings, that is why when I have to go anywhere I choose the early train/plane/bus. I love the smell.

I can understand the pain of getting up early.. :) I hated it myself.. until one day..

When I was small.. thanks to my strict armed-force kinda life gifted by my kind parents, I had to wake up early. But early morning brings the sweetest smell you ever had smelled, brings you the sweet chirping of lil birdies, brings you the opportunity to make your own day.

As I grew older, laziness got better of me, especially during the college days.. then I was just like you GP. Sleeping early morning during weekends and playing comp games all night.. :) what lovely days!

Comes the job, and *sigh* waking up early starts again. I didn't like it, while I was in India.

Since I left India, watching people in this country put me to shame for looking so skinny. Here comes the physical fitness in light, and lo! I wake up every morning going to gym regularly. Aghh! Feels nice.

But I still remember those days when I met my girl.. and she made me wake up 4.30am and go to swim with her in sea. Wow! I love it. I love summer time and the sea then. :)

If you want, you can change how you behave and how you live.. needs determination.. nothing else. Cheers!

And.. thanks for putting my name in the some 7.. list and referencing my name :))
I am like you too..hate waking up in the mornings. Thanks to work and the drive, I get up at 7.00.

But of late, I'm thinking that if I wake up an hour early I can do some work peacefully before the kids wake up.

I've been planning for a while..and I hope I'll do it sometime soon.!!

Believe me, Nothing to beat the morning sleep.!! IMHO. :)

After working in the night shifts for 2 long years I can tell you for sure what are the advantages of waking up early. sometimes ppl who are accustomed to getting up early never realize whats the advantage of it !! you need to live the other way to realize it. You certainly are eligible ;)

there are days when I had the right amount of sleep ... ie sleep at 9 and wake up at 4.30, freshen up by 5 and feel the fresh air outside before 5.30 ... come back home by 6.15 relax for sometime and start ur daily work by 6.30 ... don't ya think that will be a perfect life ... but where do you see perfection today !!!!
ah. i`ve done that wake-up-when-everyone-else-is-sleeping-and-sleep-when-everyone-else-is-awake routine when i was in uni. but nowadays, it is get-myself-off-the-bed at 7 am for me!

Nice things I experience early is you realise that you have got more time to sleep and then you slumber again.

Belive me, I am not joking.

[Vatsan] Yes, the sunrise is the most awesome thing in the morning, and also the cool breeze. But the moon and the stars are simply mesmerizing...

[Nayan] The seas of Cyprus eh...i read somewhere theyre crystal clear...and sometimes people go treasure diving...

[Narayanan Sir] Point taken...if there's a job, then there is no choice but to wake up in da morning, and also to maximise the time. I wonder how much sleep do we really need. Maybe we can substitute the hours on the weekends...

[Jeevan] true, we do feel fresh the whole day. And the light morning exercise is good too.

[Sara] Cha, we have to create the perfection! Im trying hard to change my habits, hope this will be the last time I'm lazying to wake up early.

[Still] We all have done it once right...only if it will last forever...heheheheh

[Karthikeyan] That feeling, if it happens is the best ever. Imagine wakig up at 2 and its raining and u sleep again and wake up at 4 and u sleep again...sigh...when will it happen again.

First Contact, Remixed

On the last Thursday of the year, about half past 10 local time, they landed in the garden of the White House. The security never knew what hit them, in no time all the men in blue and black and whatever colour they’re in were rolling on the ground laughing. Apparently the aliens hit them with laughing gas. Good, now we know they have some sense of humour and wont bomb us…hemmm…senseless. Another half an hour went past, the president was hiding under his table, the secret service nowhere in sight. Thinking of the worst, he reached for his cell phone and dialled 911 with his trembling fingers. So much for him, the aliens UFO, which funnily enough is shaped like a saucer, lighted up like a Las Vegas casino, sans neon signboard. A door opened up and from it rolled down a weird looking robot with a huge plasma screen TV for its head. Words fail to describe alien technology, literally, so I’m using earth analogy. Oh, and by the way, I am the dude, who saw it all.

The president peering from …
